B. The Centrality Of
Yeshua
Centrality of Yeshua
In many Messianic Jewish
Congregations, Yeshua is relegated to a minor role in the interest of appealing
to Jewish people. His name may, or may not be mentioned at the end of a prayer
or two. Saying, “B’Shem Yeshua” doesn’t make you Messianic anymore than saying
“In Jesus’ name” makes you Christian.
So why should Yeshua be central to everything we do, think, and say, both
individually and corporately? I’ll give you a clue, it has to do with
“fullness.”
Let’s refer to the Scriptures for the answer…
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20
and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. 21 And
you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now
He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you
holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — 23 if indeed you continue
in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of
the gospel which you heard, NKJV
Col 2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit,
according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the
world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the
Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all
principality and power. NKJV
Eph 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all
things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in
all. NKJV
Eph 3:14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would
grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might
through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts
through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to
comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height
— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled
with all the fullness of God. NKJV
Eph 4:12 for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the
unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to
the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; NKJV
This all has a temporal element as well as an eternal or prophetic one. It is
God’s plan to seal us into His family through marriage…
Isaiah mentions a bride… Isa 49:14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me,
Then the Lord says…
Isa 49:15 "Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.
16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me. NKJV
Jeremiah speaks of a season of desolation followed by…
Jer 33:10 Again there shall be heard in this place — of which you say, "It is
desolate, without man and without beast" — in the cities of Judah, in the
streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and
without beast, 11 the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say:
Ho-doo La-do-nai Key Tov, Key L’Olam Chas-do.
"Praise the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good,
For His mercy endures forever" — NKJV
In John 3 we find John the Baptist speaking of Yeshua as the Bridegroom.
Eph 2:19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow
citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being
the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together,
grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built
together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. NKJV
Rev 21:2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of
heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. NKJV
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say,
"Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of
life freely. NKJV
Ps 9:13 Have mercy on me, O LORD! NKJV
Ps 9:14 That I may tell of all Your praise
In the gates of the daughter of Zion.
I will rejoice in Your salvation. NKJV
Ps 18:46 The LORD lives!
Blessed be my Rock!
Let the God of my salvation be exalted. NKJV
Ps 14:7 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people,
Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad. NKJV
Jer 3:23 Truly, in the LORD our God
Is the salvation of Israel. NKJV
Hab 3:13 You went forth for the salvation of Your people,
For salvation with Your Anointed. NKJV
Zech 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey, NKJV
Isa 43:1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
3 For I am the LORD your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; NKJV
