D. Apostolic - Five Fold Ministry
We are committed to having 5 fold
ministry operating in the body of the Messiah. We also believe in the local
moving in the gifts of the spirit. It is a lot messier to do things this way.
Flesh gets mixed up in it from time to time. But we’ve got to give the Holy
Spirit opportunity to minister in this way.
Prov 14:4 Where no oxen are, the crib is
clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox. KJV
So, what is five fold ministry?
Eph 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be (like
a hand – the right hand held out in front) apostles, some prophets, some
evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 (why?) for the equipping of the
saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of The Messiah,
13 (how long?) till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge
of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the
fullness of The Messiah (only then will we be ready to be the Bride of the
Messiah); 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried
about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning
craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow
up in all things into Him who is the head — The Messiah — 16 from whom the whole
body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the
effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body
for the building up of itself in love. NKJV
Just before this section of Scripture, Paul quotes Ps 68:18, saying…
Eph 4:7But to each one of us grace was given
according to the measure of The Messiah's gift. 8 Therefore He says: "When He
ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men." NKJV
It is impossible for God to lie and it is impossible that you got left out.
2 Tim 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up
the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has
not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Let’s focus for a minute with the end in mind.
Rev 21:9 "Come, I will show you the bride,
the Lamb's wife." NKJV
Who is this one? She is also called “New Jerusalem.” There are 12 gates, (names
of the 12 tribes) and 12 foundations (apostles).
The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe there will only be 144,000 in the Bride. Their
objective is to be one of them. The 144,000 are mentioned in Rev 7:4, but the
tribe of Manasseh takes the place of the tribe of Dan. Then Rev 14 tells us that
the 144,000 are virgins (first fruits) standing with Yeshua (the Lamb) and only
they know the new song. But I digress.
None of these 5 fold ministries are to be self proclaimed. All of us have some
measure of these gifts.
1 Cor 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts,
brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: NKJV
1 Cor 12:4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. NKJV
1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the
profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to
another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the
same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the
working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to
another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one
individually as He wills. NKJV
It is so easy to be puffed up with any of these gifts, but Yeshua emptied
himself.
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was
also in The Messiah Yeshua, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it
robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the
form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in
appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of
the cross. NKJV
Zechariah understood this… Zech 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey,
James 4:6 & 1 Peter 5:5 both quote Prov 3:34 "God resists the proud, But gives
grace to the humble." NKJV
1 Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under
the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, NKJV
1 Cor 14:37 If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him
acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the
Lord. 38 But if anyone is ignorant (does not recognize this), let him be
ignorant (not be recognized). NKJV
Apostles
We are covered by the Apostolic covering of
Tikkun. Every congregation needs an Apostolic covering.
In the first verse of most of his epistles, Paul says he is called to be an
apostle. An apostle is one who plants and oversees congregations. In Heb 3:1
Yeshua is identified as an apostle. NT:649 apostello (ap-os-tel'-lo); from
NT:575 and NT:4724; set apart, i.e. (by implication) to send out (properly, on a
mission) literally or figuratively: send out and appoint.
Literally a sent one. This is mentioned 3 times in 1 John 4…the last time…
1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be
the Savior of the world. KJV
Prophecy
After the love chapter of 1 Cor 13, Paul
starts the next chapter this way… 1 Cor 14:1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual
gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. NKJV
Paul had just written…
1 Cor 13:8a Love never fails…1 Cor 13:9 For
we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has
come, then that which is in part will be done away. NKJV
Soon I’m going to teach extensively on the proper use of the gift of tongues
which is frequently connected to prophesy.
The truth is that Prophesy is a flashy gifting. For that reason it can be very
seductive.
The Hebrew Scriptures are filled with prophetic gifting. Unfortunately, the
people rarely listened. Yeshua quoted Is 29:13
Matt 15:7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 "These
people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their
heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the
commandments of men.'" NKJV
Amos 2:28 is quoted in Acts 2 as Peter is ministering on the feast of Shavuot.
Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on
all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream
dreams, Your young men shall see visions. NKJV
Deut 13:1 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he
gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of
which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods' — which you have not
known — 'and let us serve them,' 3 you shall not listen to the words of that
prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know
whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deut 13:5 But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death,
because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the LORD your God NKJV
Deut 18:18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their
brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all
that I command Him. NKJV
Ex 33:11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.

Num 12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian
woman whom he had married; Num 12:3 (Now the man Moses was very humble, more
than all men who were on the face of the earth.) Num 12:6 Then He said, "Hear
now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the LORD, make Myself known to
him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. 7 Not so with My servant Moses; He
is faithful in all My house. 8 I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and
not in dark sayings; NKJV
Evangelist
The “great commission” reads like this…Mark
16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the good news to every creature. NKJV
2 Tim 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Yeshua The Messiah, who
will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach
the word! Be ready in season and out of season. 2 Tim 4:5 But you be watchful in
all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your
ministry. NKJV
Matt 10:5 These twelve Yeshua sent out and commanded them, saying: "Do not go
into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 But
go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, preach,
saying,'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers,
raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. NKJV
Ezek 34:11 'For thus says the Lord GOD: "Indeed I Myself will search for My
sheep and seek them out. NKJV
John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to
Myself." NKJV
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And
how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they
hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As
it is written: (Nahum 1:15)
"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!" NKJV
Pastor
Num 27:15 Then Moses spoke to the LORD,
saying: 16 "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over
the congregation, 17 who may go out before them and go in before them, who may
lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be
like sheep which have no shepherd." 18 And the LORD said to Moses: "Take Joshua
the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him;
19 set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and
inaugurate him in their sight. NKJV
Zech 11:17 "Woe to the worthless shepherd,
Who leaves the flock! NKJV
Zech 11:15 And the LORD said to me,"Next, take for yourself the implements of a
foolish shepherd. 16 For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will
not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are
broken, nor feed those that still stand. NKJV
John 10:11 "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the
sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the
sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches
the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and
does not care about the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep,

Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which
the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He
purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departure savage
wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among
yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the
disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three
years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. NKJV
1 Peter 5:2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers,
not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as
being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4 and
when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does
not fade away.
Teacher
Moses gets the instruction from God… Ex 18:20
And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in
which they must walk and the work they must do. NKJV
The Lord promises…
Ps 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye. NKJV
We are admonished by the Lord…2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself
approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the
word of truth. NKJV
Yeshua wants us to teach…Matt 11:1 Now it came to pass, when Yeshua finished
commanding His twelve disciples, that He departed from there to teach and to
preach in their cities. NKJV
Yeshua never tells us to do something He Himself has not already done…Mark 6:2
And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many
hearing Him were astonished, saying,"Where did this Man get these things? NKJV
Even the Pharisees knew Yeshua was an excellent teacher…Luke 20:21 Then they
asked Him, saying," Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do
not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth: NKJV It should
be noted that although they were complimenting Him, they intended to bait Him
into an answer about paying taxes that would get Him in trouble.
There is a higher standard for teachers…Rom 2:21 You, therefore, who teach
another, do you not teach yourself? NKJV
Teaching is to be multi-generational…2 Tim 2:2 And the things that you have
heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be
able to teach others also. NKJV
