Kingdom Authority and Power

C. The Pre-Eminence Of The Word Of God

In studying our core values, I recently asked Gary K. why they are important. He said they are the tools and materials by which we will build the vision. If we are building with various materials, the house will not stand.

Matt 12:25 But Yeshua knew their thoughts, and said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. NKJV
May I repeat the vision for you?

This was written last August…it is written in the present tense, as if speaking prophetically.

Vision for Shomair Yisrael…

Congregation Shomair Yisrael is a Messianic Jewish congregation made up of Jewish and non-Jewish people who have personally received (and continue to act in accordance with the Scriptural teachings of) Yeshua, the Messiah, as their personal Savior and Lord and covenant to reflect His love in their love for one another.

It is open to the healing of all persons, body, soul and spirit regardless of background or historical family ties, yet with a special emphasis toward Jewish people. We believe the Scriptures are the inerrant Word of God. The membership is Biblically observant in their worship of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, with a focus on the Feasts of the Lord including the Sabbath, Kashrut, and all other Biblical principles. The worship is Yeshua focused in a self-defined Messianic Jewish way that includes some liturgy from the traditional synagogue and the art of worship by movement (dance).

The congregation has a strong connection of support for and submits to the oversight of both Tikkun International and the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations. It offers support for the state of Israel and is generous in giving to other Messianic Jewish and traditionally Jewish causes which do not conflict with Biblical principles. Additionally, the congregation will provide for the religious education of its members and their children to the end that all are equipped for leadership. Being mentored and mentoring others both have a place in the lives of all members.

You may recall I’ve already ministered on the first two core values…
1) The centrality of Yeshua
2) The power and authority of the Kingdom of God

Today I want to speak with you on The Preeminence of the Word of God.

This is a particularly easy assignment…Preach the preeminence of the Word of God to a bunch of people who believe the Word of God.

We all have our favorite scriptures regarding the Word. What’s yours?

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend (overcome) it. NKJV

We then read, after 13 verses of preparation…
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. NKJV

When we honor the Word of God, we honor Yeshua which is the first principle. In fact all of the core values will reflect the light of that first principle, the centrality of Yeshua.

Isa 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness' sake;
He will magnify the law and make it honorable.

Matt 19:17 but if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." NKJV

John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. NKJV

John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. NKJV

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. NKJV

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. NKJV

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Yeshua The Messiah. NKJV

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Yeshua. NKJV

So many say, “Well, there are many interpretations of the Word of God.”
2 Tim 2:14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. NKJV

1 Thess 5:12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize (know) those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves. NKJV

What is a legalist? What is a Judaiser?
One who believes that salvation can be earned by keeping the Law.
Eph 2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with The Messiah even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with The Messiah and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in The Messiah Yeshua, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in The Messiah Yeshua. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in The Messiah Yeshua to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. NIV

Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Deut 4:40 You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time." NKJV

Acts 13:48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. NKJV

Ps 119:16 I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. NKJV

Asher With an Aleph

Do you love yourself? According to Yeshua, the second greatest commandment is from Lev 19:18 you shall love your neighbor as yourself: NKJV

There are some people who you might be afraid to ask.

Are you basically a happy person? According to the book by the same name, “Happiness is a Choice.” Minereth and Meyer said so.

Being a faithful follower of Yeshua requires happiness.
John 15:11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. NKJV

A “poor me” mentality is a sin.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.
