Kingdom Authority and Power
E. World Revival
Luke 19:1 Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was
a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he
sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of
short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him,
for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked
up and saw him, and said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today
I must stay at your house." 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him
joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying,"He has gone to be
a guest with a man who is a sinner."
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my
goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation,
I restore fourfold."
9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he
also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save
that which was lost." NKJV
What was lost? Relationship with God. Notice Yeshua didn’t say, “To save who was
lost.”
Yeshua says, “It is my business to seek and save that which was lost.” He didn’t
wait for Zacchaeus.
Anything that brings people into contact with Yeshua is of the Lord and has the
power of salvation.
In Hebrew “World Revival” is “Tikkun Olam”. How is it that this became one of
our core values? It is consistent with the Word of God for His congregation.
Every act of love, mixed with faith in Yeshua has the power of the Kingdom of
God to bring salvation.
Of course we have the great commission…
Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to
every creature. NKJV
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of
God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the
Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as
it is written, "The just shall live by faith." NKJV (Hab 2:4)
Here is a good-evil-good sandwich from the Lord…
Rom 2:7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for
glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not
obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness — indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation
and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of
the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to
the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.
NKJV
So let’s review…
Kingdom Authority and Power
• Power of God’s presence in corporate and personal life
(Without the presence of God, we can do nothing.)
History beings with man hiding himself from the presence of God in the Garden of
Eden.
Jonah had the calling of God in his life, yet he tried to flee from the presence
of God.
How do we get God’s presence in our lives? We invite Him in.
1 Cor 1:29 that no flesh should glory in His presence. NKJV
We have no choice…to be without His presence is to be unsaved…
2 Thess 1:9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, NKJV
This is the work of the congregation…
1 Thess 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even
you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? 20 For you are our
glory and joy. NKJV
• Centrality of Yeshua
In many Messianic Jewish Congregations, Yeshua is relegated to a minor role in
the interest of appealing to Jewish people. His name may, or may not be
mentioned at the end of a prayer or two. Saying, “B’Shem Yeshua” doesn’t make
you Messianic anymore than saying “In Jesus’ name” makes you Christian.
So why should Yeshua be central to everything we do, think, and say, both
individually and corporately? I’ll give you a clue, it has to do with
“fullness.”
Let’s refer to the Scriptures for the answer…
Col 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20
and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. 21 And
you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now
He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you
holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — 23 if indeed you continue
in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of
the gospel which you heard, NKJV
• Pre-eminence of Word of God
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him,
and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life
was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness
did not comprehend (overcome) it. NKJV
We then read, after 13 verses of preparation…
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. NKJV
The nature of the kingdom of God is grace and truth. Many churches teach grace
or truth.
John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through
Jesus Christ. NKJV
2 John 3 Grace, mercy, and peace will be with you from God the Father and from
the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. NKJV
2 John 6 This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the
commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
NKJV
• Apostolic/5 fold ministry
So, what is five fold ministry?
Eph 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be (like a hand – the right hand held out
in front) apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and
teachers, 12 (why?) for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry,
for the building up of the body of The Messiah, 13 (how long?) till we all come
to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect
man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of The Messiah (only then
will we be ready to be the Bride of the Messiah); 14 that we should no longer be
children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by
the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but,
speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head —
The Messiah — 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what
every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part
does its share, causes growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
NKJV
• World revival
Yeshua had kingdom authority and power. (Luke 4:36)
Yeshua gave that authority and power to the disciples, then to the 70 and then
to us.
Luke 10:17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons
are subject to us in Your name." 18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like
lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on
serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, NKJV
Central to who we are…to our vision for Shomair Yisrael…is that God’s kingdom
authority and power are available to us. If we would just realize what the Lord
has placed within us.
1 Cor 4:20 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. NKJV
Ps 127:1 unless the LORD builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the LORD guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain. NKJV
