SUMMARY OF OUR
CORE VALUES AS A CONGREGATION
Congregation Shomair Yisrael is a Messianic Jewish congregation made up of
Jewish and non-Jewish persons who have personally received (and continue to act
in accordance with the Scriptural teachings of) Yeshua, the Messiah, as their
personal Savior and Lord and reflect His love in their love for one another.
It is open to the healing of all persons regardless of background or historical
family ties with a special emphasis to Jewish persons. The membership is
Biblically observant with a focus on the Feasts of the Lord including the
Sabbath, Kashrut, and all other Biblical principles. The worship is Yeshua
focused in a self-defined Messianic way that includes the art of worship by
movement (dance).
The congregation has a strong connection of support for and submits to the
oversight of both Tikkun International and the Union of Messianic Jewish
Congregations. It offers support for the state of Israel and is generous in
giving to other Messianic Jewish and traditionally Jewish causes which do not
conflict with Biblical principles. Additionally, the congregation will provide
for the religious education of its members and their children to the end that
all are equipped for leadership. Being mentored and mentoring others both have a
place in the lives of all members.
Our General Beliefs:
We believe that the Bible (Old And New Covenants) is the inspired and only
infallible inerrant word of God.
We view it as the final authority in matters of faith and practice.
We believe that there is one eternally existent God, and in His triune
nature of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and humanity of Yeshua the Messiah; in His virgin
birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious atoning
death; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of
the Father; and in His personal return, in power, to establish His
Kingdom.
We believe that
all men, apart from the regeneration work of the Holy Spirit, are lost.
Sinners experience salvation by God's grace, through faith in Yeshua.
We believe in the
present ministry of the Holy Spirit, including all gifts of the Spirit,
who indwells all believers and empowers them to live Godly lives.
We believe in the
spiritual unity of all believers in Yeshua, and that this unity does not
eliminate individual identity.
We believe in
God's everlasting covenant with Israel, and that in the end times all of
Israel will turn to God and accept Yeshua as the Messiah.
We believe that
the Torah (Law of Moses) was not given as a means of salvation but as a revelation of
God's moral principles. Therefore; we need to study it, along with the
rest of scripture, to determine how to live Godly lives (2 Timothy 3:16).
We will therefore be a Torah observant congregation.
We
believe God gave us the Sabbath as a joyous heritage and that Sabbath begins at
Sundown on Friday night and extends until sundown on Saturday night
Congregational
Shomair Yisrael recognizes covenant relationship to other leaders in the body of
believers. As part of this, we recognize ourselves as related and accountable to
an Apostolic Leader (currently Dan Juster) who has leadership in the
congregations beyond our own congregation. The congregational leader is
accountable to the leaders with whom we are in explicit relationship. The
congregation, in furtherance of the above accountability, chooses to be under
the apostolic authority of the Tikkun
